What do I need when my car is collected?

You will need you V5c registration document, keys, photo I.D. and Utility bill within the last 3 months, and any other paperwork you may have.

When will someone contact me?

Once you have accepted our online quote you will receive an email immediately letting you know one of our depots will be contacting you very soon (usually within the hour during normal working hours). This will be to confirm your details and arrange a convenient time for collection. They will also check which method of payment you would like.

How will I be paid?

The amount we valued your car at is the amount we pay, as long as the vehicle has four wheels, has no major parts missing and is easily accessible.
You can choose from either cheque on collection, bank transfer or some of our depots offer payment onto a payment / debit card.

How do I know the ATF is licenced?

You can check the validity of the licenced company by going to the environmental agency web site.

What time do they collect?

Our depots usually collect between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, but will accommodate you outside these times, and at weekends by agreement.

Who fills in the V5c registration document?

The collection driver will complete section 9 (yellow portion) on the V5c registration document, you will be required to sign and date this section and send this part to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BD. We recommend you photocopy this prior to sending to DVLA.

If you are claiming an unused portion of road fund licence you will need to send this section with your refund application form V14
We then take the remainder of the V5c (sections 1-8 & 10-12) with us.

When will I receive a certificate of destruction (C.O.D.)?

If you have requested a certificate of destruction this will be emailed or posted to you within 48 hours of collection.
Read more about certificate of destruction. C.O.D

What if I change my mind?

Please tell us as soon as possible after accepting the quote. If you have decided not to have you unwanted car collected please contact us on 0800 1114766 or email cancelled@webuyscrapcars.co.uk so we can inform our depot and avoid wasted journey charges.

What if my car is not complete?

Not a problem but your quote was based on the vehicle being complete.
(Your vehicle does not have to be drivable or the engine running)
If your vehicle is missing major parts this will affect its value, please contact us to discuss your quote.

What if my car is full of rubbish?

Your vehicle will need to be free of waste e.g. household waste, old tyres. Etc. basically anything which isn’t part of the vehicle.

What if I don’t have a V5c Registration Document ?

Not a problem?, let us know when contacted. Most of our ATF's will take the vehicle without a V5c but you do need to let them know when they contact you as they may ask for further I.D. For example a copy of your insurance

Do I need to be with my car when being collected?

You don't always need to be present as long as the person receiving the payment has all the correct I.D. and has your authority

What if I do not have keys for my vehicle?

When you are contacted please let us know, we can still collect your car but will need to know more about its position and any other obstruction which may affect its recovery.

Does my car need to be running?

No as long as the vehicle is complete with no major parts missing.

Does my vehicle need to be accessible?

Yes. Your vehicle needs to be on hard ground, accessible to a standard recovery truck so it can be either driven or winched onto the back. If the vehicle is found to be inaccessible when the recovery truck arrives your collection may be re arranged or cancelled which may incur a wasted journey charge.

How does online quote work?

We use a unique bespoke quote system which not only takes into consideration the weight of the vehicle but also if any of our ATF’s are looking for a particular model of vehicle which in turn can give added value to you.
As our quote system does not assume cars of 10 years and older are just scrap value we can offer a higher price on selected models.
If you feel your vehicle has a salvage value and would like to contact us please don’t hesitate to do so.

Do I need V5 registration document?

No just let us know when contacted. Most of our ATF's will take the vehicle without a V5c but you do need to let them know when they contact you as they may ask for further I.D. For example a copy of your insurance
